"Panahon na para tangkilikin an sariling atin."-- Teresita "Mama Sita" Reyes Anak, Maybahay, Ina, Lola, KusineraMY TAKE:
I entered a contest sponsored by Mama Sita awhile ago and I received an early bird prize of a set of Mama Sita mixes and this cookbook.
Mama Sita's Cookbook contains recipes for Filipino favorites like Adobong Manok, Escabeche and Lechon Kawali. There's also a guide showing conversions between units of measurements used.
I found the layout and images used to be very eye-catching. the ingredients are also emphasized so that it would be easier for you to locate them on the list of ingredients and write them down on your shopping list. The entire cookbook is written in Filipino.
The recipes are easy enough to follow. The biggest downside I've found is that a lot of the recipes use Mama Sita mixes and products. While it's easy enough to find alternative brands for things like oyster sauce, if you're not a fan of Mama Sita or prefer a different brand, it's harder to find alternatives for things like Mama Sita's Shanghai mix.
THE GOOD:
- The recipes are easy to follow.
- The layout and images make the pages lively.
- There's a wide variety of dishes to choose from.
THE BAD:
- Some of the recipes make use of mixes that aren't readily available everywhere.
