Review: #1 Your Pajamas Are Showing! by Michel-Yves Schmitt, Author; Vincent Caut, Illustrator

SUMMARY FROM NETGALLEY.COM:
What if you woke up one morning and could turn invisible? Would you fight crime? Save the world? If you're like Leopold, you'd rather play tricks on your big sister and steal her caramels! But being invisible isn’t all it's cracked up to be. Leopold can make his body disappear, but not his clothes. How will he pull his pranks with his pajamas showing? Is he brave enough to play his tricks in the nude? Maybe the right magic word is all he needs!
MY TAKE:
It's been awhile since I liked a graphic novel.

In Your Pajamas Are Showing!, Leopold is a young boy with the power of invisibility. His sister finds out and their adventures begin.

The graphic novel is done in panels, just like your typical comic. The illustration style is not particularly my type, but I really like the coloring and the font used for the text.

There are plenty of subplots in this comic and I liked them all. I especially liked the beginning when Leopold was trying to figure out how to make his clothes invisible as well.

I also really liked Leopold's sister Celine. She reminds me a little bit of DeeDee from Dexter's Laboratory. Their relationship is a lot better, though, and more typical of brothers and sisters.

Thanks to NetGalley and Graphic Universe for the e-ARC. Publication date for Your Pajamas Are Showing! is on April 1, 2013.

THE GOOD:

  1. The jokes work.
  2. The illustrations and coloring style are cute and work with the story.
  3. Kids and adults will enjoy this.

THE BAD:

  1. The illustration style might not appeal to everyone.
